Marcie Courtney is a litigator on our Medical Malpractice & Healthcare Professional Liability team. Marcie represents healthcare systems, hospitals, continuing care communities, long-term care providers, acute rehabilitation facilities, physicians, nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare providers in professional liability matters.
She has extensive experience representing clients at trial, arbitration, and mediation in high financial exposure cases, including alleged negligent medical care, failure to diagnose and properly treat various medical conditions, failure to provide appropriate psychiatric care to mentally ill patients, and claims involving alleged improper medical screening and discharge under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA).
Marcie has been named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer in the Medical Malpractice category since 2025 and was recognized by the same organization as a Rising Star in 2006, 2010, and 2015.
Katharine Koob also focuses her practice on Medical Malpractice & Healthcare Professional Liability. An experienced litigator, Katharine is certified as an arbitrator in the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia. She represents clients in professional liability and medical malpractice claims at trial, mediation, and arbitration in matters that involve catastrophic injuries and significant financial exposure. Her clients include hospitals and health systems, physicians, nurses, dentists, and other healthcare professionals.
Katharine was recognized in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America in the area of Medical Malpractice in 2024 and was named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyers Rising Star in Medical Malpractice in 2019 and 2020.
Katharine has served as a volunteer attorney for the Veterans Pro Bono Law Clinic, representing low-income and disabled veterans. She is also a Trustee of the Haddonfield Friends of the Library and a member of the Junior League of Philadelphia.
