Perez Morris is a women-owned business defense law firm headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, with offices in Cleveland and Toledo, Ohio, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Workers’ Compensation Attorney to join our legal team meeting the following criteria:
- 3-6 years minimum prior experience in handling Ohio workers’ compensation matters, preferably on the defense side.
- Must also have experience handling general discovery matters, including taking depositions, interviewing witnesses, responding to written discovery, and preparing motions.
- Must be able to work independently on an assigned caseload.
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong writing and legal research skills, and a strong work ethic.
- Entrepreneurial growth mindset for client development and practice management.
- Efficient time-management skills.
- Values collaboration and diverse perspectives and can work with a team to creatively solve problems.
- Willingness to be a productive member of a team.
- Licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio.

Perez Morris is seeking an experienced Medical Records Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical records retrieval and analysis, with a keen eye for detail and excellent organizational skills. This role requires someone who can manage deadlines effectively, work well under pressure, and communicate efficiently with both medical providers and legal professionals.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Prepare HIPAA authorizations for the collection of medical records and medical bills.
- Submit record requests and contact medical providers to obtain medical records and itemized bills.
- Electronically save scanned records, diagnostic testing, and medical bills, filing each under their respective client and matter numbers.
- Review scanned records, identifying essential deadlines and information for attorneys.
- Review and analyze medical records/bills to match dates of service.
- Request checks for medical records fees.
- Maintain constant communication with attorneys and paralegals regarding their needs for medical records and the status of files.
- Follow up with medical providers on pending requests to ensure timely receipt of records and bills.
- Analyze and assist in the organization of medical records.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical records retrieval.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to quickly learn proprietary software systems and databases.
- Strong written communication skills, including business writing and grammar.
- Excellent organizational skills and a team player.
- Ability to integrate into a fast-paced environment, manage deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities to meet attorney and client needs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
This position is for our Columbus, Ohio office. Hours are generally 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Monday through Friday), but additional hours could be required as necessary. The firm offers full benefits, including paid holidays and vacation, health care insurance, 401k and an excellent work environment.
