Perez Morris is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Malpractice Attorney to join our Toledo office. The ideal candidate will have first-chair trial experience, a deep understanding of medical-legal issues, and a proven track record of handling high-stakes cases from inception through verdict.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Minimum four years of experience handling medical malpractice defense litigation.
  • Experienced trial lawyer with regular appearances in court conferences, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions.
  • Skilled in all aspects of litigation strategy from drafting pleadings, responding to written discovery motions and discovery demands, preparing motions, to negotiating settlements and preparing witnesses for trial.
  • Trusted advisor to insurers and corporate clients, serving as primary contact for claims professionals, providing case assessments, litigation plans, and status reports.
  • Must be able to work independently on an assigned caseload.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong writing and legal research skills, and a strong work ethic.
  • Entrepreneurial growth mindset for client development and practice management.
  • Values collaboration and diverse perspectives and can work with a team to creatively solve problems.

Qualifications:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Active license in good standing with the [State] Bar.
  • Minimum four years of litigation experience.
  • First-chair trial experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle high-pressure cases and manage complex litigation matters.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to serve a dual role as both a Receptionist and File Clerk/Docketing Clerk. This position will be responsible for ensuring that our office runs efficiently while providing superior service to clients, attorneys, and staff. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a keen eye for detail in managing both client interactions and case files.

File Clerk Responsibilities

  • Create, organize, and maintain physical and electronic client files
  • Scan, label, and upload documents into the case management system
  • File incoming correspondence, medical records, pleadings, and discovery materials
  • Retrieve files and documents for attorneys, paralegals, and support staff as requested
  • Ensure documents are correctly indexed and filed according to office procedures
  • Prepare files for hearings, depositions, or trial as needed
  • Archive closed files in accordance with retention policies
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and other privacy requirements
  • Perform general clerical tasks such as copying, mailing, and data entry

Receptionist Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for clients, visitors, and vendors, providing a welcoming and professional atmosphere.
  • Answer phone calls, emails, and in-person inquiries, directing them to the appropriate team member as needed.
  • Ensure proper check-in procedures for visitors, including managing guest access and providing necessary information.
  • Manage office supplies inventory, placing orders and ensuring supplies are stocked and readily available.
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and deliveries.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Prior experience in a law office or clerical role preferred
  • Familiarity with workers’ compensation terminology is a plus, but not required
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage high volumes of paperwork accurately and efficiently
  • Basic computer skills, including document scanning and file management systems
  • Ability to follow established procedures and work independently
  • Professional demeanor and strong sense of confidentiality
