Leah Mako, Director of People Operations at Perez Morris, has been named a Columbus Business First HR Impact Awards honoree. Columbus Business First announced this year’s list of human resources professionals who develop and maintain winning company cultures on June 1, 2026.
Leah joined Perez Morris in 2024 in the newly created role of Director of People Operations to strengthen the firm’s people strategy in response to significant growth over the past five years. Since then, she’s had a significant impact, leading initiatives that support staff growth, address workplace challenges, and foster collaboration across multiple offices.
In the award nomination, Managing Partner Sarah Perez noted Leah’s background in therapy and a master’s degree in Operational Excellence has made her an essential piece of the firm’s strategy, culture, and growth.
“Leah’s leadership has helped cultivate an environment grounded in respect, kindness, community, and gratitude,” said Sarah Perez. “Her ability to build trust, foster connection, and lead with integrity makes her an outstanding contributor to both the organization and the broader business community.”
The HR Impact Award recipients will be honored during a ceremony on August 13 at the Columbus Zoo’s Africa Events Center.
